Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on court had led some to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a tight final set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
