I'll dominate 'legitimate boxer' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" the American as the two fighters met personally to publicize the upcoming heavyweight fight.

Former twice world boxing king Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I will break his face and hurt his body. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I'm going to seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of these statements, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead criticized former Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian rejected a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, at the same time, took aim at UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] is better than Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of stating he plans to punish Paul, Joshua chose not to talk badly about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he said.

Paul's History

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or declining opponents since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Still, the novice remains one of the sport's greatest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"It will be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters participated in the usual face-off, with their size difference evident, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the match is really happening.
